There are multiple maps to avoid overfitting.
A mix of breeding and mutation is used for the next iterations.
Selected cars are either kept as they are or used to breed new cars. Cars and children with the lowest score will be mutated.
If performance hasn’t increased for a while, the cars with the lowest score will also be reused for the next iteration.
The logic depends on the mode:
- automatic mode: X% of the cars with the highest score are selected automatically
- manual mode: the user selects which cars to pick
- input: the user manually trains the model by driving on the map
